Newly rediscovered painting of Jean Baptiste Discart (Modena, 1855 – Paris, 1940), Souvenir de Tanger’ Tanger, around 1890.
In January 2023 in a German antique shop at Heidenheim an der Brenz a painting of Jean Baptiste Discart of a girl in Tanger reappeared. The painting is signed J.B. Discart right under and has written on it below ‘Souvenir de Tanger’. Probably it was sent from Marocco by the painter to an Austrian or German relation. It is a painting oil on paper. The portrait was acquired by the Foundation painter Jean Baptiste Discart in February 2023.
